BOOK PUBLISHED FOR A LOCAL HISTORY PROJECT

The OUR Broomhall Community Project was Lottery funded and commissioned by The Broomhall Community Centre in Sheffield to create a lasting legacy of the Centre, and the role that it has played in the history and community of Broomhall. Initially, having an interest in local history myself and being a previous Broomhall resident I approached the Centre to offer my services in helping to maintain and file their vast quantities of digital imagery. However, I was asked instead, to help design and publish a book to accompany the project. Naturally I jumped at the chance! This was something that I had always wanted to do. I joined the project as it neared its end and didn't want to just walk in and take over. I offered to act as artworker and advisor, to help the team to publish their ideas. This lead to a successful publication that the whole team were extremely proud of.

As you may imagine there was a huge amount of typesetting, image editing and going back and forth with proofs and alterations but this was one of the most rewarding projects I ever had the pleasure to work on.
